With clusters of garbage floating in the Pacific Ocean, being conscientious about where our trash goes is more important than ever. Especially, because it’s not all trash adrift out there.
Over 9 billion tons of plastic has been produced since 1950 and of it, scientists from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and the University of Georgia say that close to 7 billion tons are no longer in use. That in and of itself is astonishing – but of that 7 billion tons of plastic, they estimate that just over 12 percent was incinerated and only 9 percent was recycled. That means, this 2017 study indicates over 5.5 billion tons of plastic has been left to litter our oceans and land .
Go Trashy is working hard to bring those numbers down. In an effort to make recycling pick up as easy and convenient as possible, Go Trashy has created a free app (iPhone, Android) you can download to have our haulers come to you and remove any recyclables you are ready to part with. All for a reasonable price.
We do our best to make recycling pick up as efficient as possible so that anything that heads to a landfill is a last resort. We know no one gets it right all the time, but we place a great priority on building the health and strength of our planet and local economy. We’re doing our part by helping you do yours.
We can recycle:
